Threads of Fate Sequential Narrative 2018

4 page comic based on the Chinese myth of the 'Red String of Fate'. Line work in black Indian ink on cartridge paper, coloured digitally in Photoshop.

Mental health and wellbeing is an area that I felt would work well as a theme for my final minor project, being a keen interest and topic of importance. I looked at creating a short comic with this theme in mind, eager to take a hopeful angle on a subject that can be difficult to navigate. Drawing inspiration of the Chinese myth 'The Red String of Fate', where two people are destined to be together if an invisible red string connects them, I looked at the idea of being connected to people even when we feel we are alone. Using a simple text narrative and a limited colour palette of black, white and red, my 4 page comic serves as a reminder that we are more connected than our minds may lead us to feel at times.
