Big Dog Little Dog
Picture Book 2018

32 page full colour children's picture book based on the adventures of Big Dog and Little Dog with their family, produced as my final major project for university. Gouache, watercolour and colour pencil on watercolour paper, edited in Photoshop.

After setting myself the challenge of producing a children's sequential narrative I looked to my own past for inspiration for a theme. Keeping loosely to the idea of family I settled on the theme of pets, and how they are just as much family as people for many children and adults the world over. Drawing inspiration from my own pets during childhood my narrative focused on the adventures of two dogs affectionately nicknamed 'Big Dog' and 'Little Dog'. Scenes from home life to the beach and back are included in a variety of single and double page spreads and vignettes.
